The lone red seat among the dark green seats in Fenway Park’s right field bleachers (Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21) marks the longest baseball home run ever in the Boston baseball park, hit by Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams on June 9th, 1946.
The home run by Williams, a left-handed batter, was recorded at 502 feet (or 153 meters), and the ball reportedly struck the head of spectator Joseph A. Boucher of Albany, New York, penetrating a straw hat he was wearing at the time.
The Boston Red Sox were playing the Detroit Tigers in the second game of a doubleheader and won with a final score of 11-6.
