Mickey Mantle is interred in the Mantle family mausoleum at Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
The American former professional baseball player for the New York Yankees died, aged 63, on August 13th, 1995, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He received a liver transplant two months earlier after cancer was found in his own liver, already damaged by alcohol-induced cirrhosis and hepatitis C.
Mantle’s funeral, held on August 15th at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, was attended by around 1,500 of his friends and family.
An epitaph on the plaque marking the mausoleum reads:
Mickey Charles Mantle
A magnificent New York Yankee,
True teammate and Hall of Fame centerfielder
with legendary courage.
The most popular player of his era.
A loving husband, father and friend for life.
