The BMW Museum in Munich showcases BMW’s history, starting in 1917 when it made aircraft engines, through the introduction of BMW motorcycles in 1923, the first BMW automobile, based on the Austin Seven, in 1928, to BMW Group’s present-day and future vehicles and technologies.
Since reopening in 2008 after redevelopment, the museum has two exhibition areas, one housing over 100 permanent exhibits from the BMW collection, and a smaller space in the original landmark 1973 silver cauldron-shaped museum building used for temporary displays. Among the historic BMW vehicles on display are Elvis Presley’s BMW 507, iconic models such as the Isetta, M1,Z1 Z8, 2002 ti, 3.0 CSi, and various exhibits from the BMW Art Cars collection.
The museum is located next to BMW’s headquarters and manufacturing plant near the Munich Olympic Park, and is closed on Mondays.
