What is the capital of Maine?

Last updated March 14, 2021 by ZagBot Comment

The capital city of Maine is Augusta.

Maine separated from Massachusetts in 1820, and the city of Portland was the new state’s first capital, before centrally-located Augusta was chosen as the new capital in 1827.

Maine’s state legislature continued meeting in Portland until the new Maine State House in Augusta was completed in 1832.
