Cranberry Township in Butler County, Pennsylvania, is a municipality located some 22 miles (or 34.5 kilometers) north of downtown Pittsburgh, known for being a major economic and employment center, home to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ practice and training facility, and its municipal recreational facilities that include a waterpark and golf course.
Despite being a residential suburb of Pittsburgh, Cranberry attracts thousands of inbound commuters daily who work for some of the large corporations based in the municipality, including Westinghouse Electrical, Mine Safety Appliances, Omnicell, PPG Paints, Kawneer, TrueCommerce, and Gatan. The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex houses an outpatient facility for UPMC Sports Medicine and is also the primary ice hockey training facility for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, featuring two full-size ice rinks.
The Cranberry Waterpark is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and has an outdoor pool, waterslides, and a water climbing wall, and the municipal golf course, Cranberry Highlands, is an award-winning daily fee par-70 course open from around mid-March to mid-November.
