American rapper and singer-songwriter Juice WRLD died on December 8th, 2019, aged 21, after suffering a seizure, induced by drug intoxication, at Chicago Midway International Airport.
Juice WRLD, whose real name was Jarad Anthony Higgins, had landed at Midway aboard a private Gulfstream jet from Van Nuys Airport, Los Angeles. On arrival at a private hangar, the airplane, passengers and baggage were searched for guns and drugs by law enforcement officers.
During the search, Higgins began convulsing and received medical treatment, but was declared dead after being transported to the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The medical examiner determined that he died accidentally as a result of toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine in his body.
The young rapper was considered a rising star in the music scene, with his single Lucid Dreams, which interpolated Sting’s Shape of My Heart, being one of the most streamed songs of 2018.
