What airport is IAH?

Last updated December 30, 2021 by ZagBot Comment

IAH is the IATA code for George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, located around 23 miles (or 37 kilometers) north of downtown Houston.

Opened in June 1969 as Houston Intercontinental Airport, it was renamed George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 1997 after George H W Bush, the 41st US President of the United States and a former US House representative for the 7th District of Texas.

It is the second-busiest airport in Texas by passenger numbers after Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The IATA code HOU is used by Houston’s William P Hobby Airport, which is an operating base for Southwest Airlines and also handles corporate and private aviation.
