Where was the Gerald Ford assassination attempt in San Francisco?

Last updated June 28, 2020 by ZagBot Comment

On September 22nd, 1975 Sarah Jane Moore fired a gun twice at President Gerald Ford as he left San Francisco’s St. Francis Hotel via the Post Street entrance. Both shots missed and the president was quickly escorted away in his limousine.

Moore was sentenced to life in prison for the assassination attempt but was released on parole on December 31st, 2007 after serving 32 years.

A bullet hole is reportedly still visible in the wall outside the hotel, now called The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square.
