The 1988 season Super Bowl XXIII was played at Joe Robbie Stadium (now called Hard Rock Stadium) in Miami Gardens, Florida, on January 22nd, 1989, between the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers won, defeating the Bengals 20–16, and 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice was named Super Bowl MVP.
