Where is the Coquihalla Summit?

Last updated May 2, 2021 by ZagBot Comment

The Coquihalla Summit is a high mountain pass on British Columbia’s Coquihalla Highway, between the towns of Hope and Merritt in the Cascade mountains.

Located along the highway some 50 kilometres (or 31 miles) north of Hope, the summit is marked by a roadside sign which displays the elevation, but there is no stopping point.

With an elevation of 1,244 metres (or 4,081 feet), despite its name, Coquihalla Summit is not the highest point on highway. The highest point on the Coquihalla Highway is the Surrey Lake Summit, 107 kilometres (or 66.5 miles) further north towards Kamloops, which is 200 metres (or 656 feet) higher.
