American guitarist and singer-songwriter Jimi Hendrix is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Renton, Washington. He died in London, England, on September 18th, 1970, at the age of 27.
Hendrix, whose birth name was Johnny Allen Hendrix, was interred on October 1st, 1970, in the cemetery where his mother, Lucille, was buried. In 2002, his casket was exhumed and he was re-interred beneath a granite-domed gazebo built by his family as part of a dedicated Jimi Hendrix Memorial at the cemetery.
Jimi’s original grave was in between the burial location of his father, Al, and the cremated remains of his grandmother, Nora, both of whom he predeceased. Their remains and those of other Hendrix family members have also been relocated to the Memorial plot.
