The Tampa Bay Lightning NHL ice hockey team plays its home games at the Amalie Arena (formerly Tampa Bay Times Forum) in the Channelside District of Downtown Tampa, Florida.
The Lightning moved to the newly-built arena, initially named the Ice Palace, in 1996. In their inaugural ice hockey game at the arena, they beat the New York Rangers by 5-2. Amalie Oil Company acquired the arena’s naming rights in September 2014.
During the 2020–21 season, the Amalie Arena also served as the temporary home of the Toronto Raptors basketball team, the only Canadian team in the NBA league, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
