Sweden’s national radio service, Swedish Radio (in Swedish: Sveriges Radio) or SR, is based at Radiohuset (translated as ‘Radio House’) on Oxenstiernsgatan in the Kvarteret Förrådsbacken area of Stockholm’s Östermalm district.
Radiohuset serves as the headquarters of SR and houses editorial and administrative offices, along with studios and SR’s music archive, the Grammofonarkivet. Much of SR’s output on national radio channels P1, P2, P3, and P4, is produced at Radiohuset, along with local broadcasts on P4 Stockholm and P6 Stockholm, and podcast and internet content.
Sveriges Radio is a non-commercial public service broadcaster controlled by a state-owned trust but editorially independent of the Government of Sweden, funded by a public service fee collected via income taxes.
