The Statue of Liberty was erected in New York in 1886 and dedicated on October 28th, 1886 by President Grover Cleveland.
Sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi started fabricating the Statue of Liberty in France in 1875 and completed the work in July 1884. In 1885, the statue was shipped in sections to New York and assembled on a purpose-built granite pedestal on Liberty Island in 1886.
