What does the San Juanico Bridge connect?

Last updated January 31, 2021 by ZagBot Comment

San Juanico Bridge in the Philippines links the islands of Leyte and Samar in the Eastern Visayas region, connecting by road the city of Tacloban and the Municipality of Santa Rita.

The 2,164-metre (or 7,100-foot) bridge spans the San Juanico Strait, and is the longest bridge in the Philippines spanning a body of water.

The bridge was opened in 1973 and is part of the Pan–Philippine Highway (also known as the Maharlika Highway) constructed under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos.
