Shaughnessy Golf Club is a private golf course in Vancouver, British Columbia, where membership is by member-invite only and initiation fees typically exceed Canadian $70,000 and membership dues are around Canadian $300 per month.
The par-73 course on Vancouver’s West Side was originally designed by Arthur Vernon Macan, an Irish immigrant to Canada who designed many prominent golf courses in British Columbia.
Overlooking the Georgia Strait at the mouth of Fraser River’s north arm, the course sits on 162 acres leased from the Musqueam Indian Band since 1958 on a 75-year lease. The fate of Shaughnessy when the lease ends is not certain, but it has already acquired Greenacres Golf Club in nearby Richmond as a potential option for relocation if and when it loses its current home in 2033.
