Does NYU have a radio station?

Last updated September 11, 2021 by ZagBot Comment

WNYU-FM is a student-run college radio station owned by New York University, broadcasting to the New York metropolitan area on FM at 89.1 MHz between 4 pm and 1 am weekdays and streaming online 24 hours a day.

The station shares the 89.1 FM frequency with WFDU, Farleigh Dickinson University’s radio station, under a shared-time agreement with the FCC, which sees WDFU broadcast on the frequency outside of WNYU’s allocated hours. Both stations operate independently using their own studios and transmitters.

WNYU’s studio is in the basement level of NYU’s Weinstein Hall on University Place in Greenwich Village. Its main transmitter is on NYU’s former University Heights campus in the Bronx, which is now Bronx Community College, and a booster transmitter for Lower Manhattan at University Plaza.
